Mini Jamboree – An Update

A note from our VP of Operations & Mini Coordinators:
As most know, our hallmark Mini-Jamboree was forced to be cancelled this year due to snow.  Weather has taken a toll on this event the last several years, leaving us with some hard decisions to make.
We want to provide a great, fun filled year end event for our teams so that everyone leaves for the summer pumped about playing again the following season.   Mother Nature seem to have other plans.

We are excited to announce that changes are being made giving us not only the best possible opportunity of a great end to our regular season, but a fun way to kick off the season as well!

To start our season, all U5-10 players will participate in a fun Skills ’n Thrills Kickoff with our Technical Team.  Held at the Minnekahda Oval, September 6-7 these one hour sessions will get all players off on the right foot.  Final Schedule to be announced over the summer.
At the end of the year, Our U5-7 will enjoy their last session on the turf at Gates Park.  Medals will be handed out and everyone leaves with a soccer ball to cap off a fun year of soccer.  This final weekend will be March 7-8.  Contingency plans are in the work in case of weather – we want to end on a high note!
For our U8-12, we are planning an optional year end tournament to be held the weekend of March 13-15.  This tournament will come at no cost to our teams.  We will be inviting teams from around Metro Vancouver to join us in a fun soccer filled weekend.  We are aiming for 4 games per team over the weekend.  We will be asking coaches to enter their teams in early September so that we can fill as many divisions as possible.
The focus of all of these events will be soccer.  While we know some will be disappointed that our carnival is going away, this was an area that alternate plans just couldn’t be made, and ends up costing a lot when things don’t work out.  It wasn’t an easy choice, but we know that the soccer focused events we have planned will quickly become a highlight of the season.
