Mini’s Coaches (U8-10)
Frequently Asked Questions
Our minis program is designed for FUN! We offer two tiers of play (Community and Development) with matches played mostly against other teams in the Tri-Cities. All teams play in the North Fraser Youth Soccer Association (NFYSA).
To request uniforms for new players, request sizing changes, or other uniform issues, please email equipment@pocosoccer.com
The regular season starts after Labour Day long weekend and finishes the weekend prior to SD43 Spring Break. There is a break over the Christmas holidays.
Teams that qualify in Cup Play could have their season extended into June (U13 – U18 teams only).
Teams can be formed as early as March 1st. All teams will be finalized no later than mid-August.
Equipment and Uniforms are handed out prior to the season starting, usually in Mid-Late August.
Practices will be held on turf at Gates Park and are booked in 60 minute blocks starting on the hour. There will be multiple teams sharing the field in every block.
Coaches are responsible for:
- Player conduct
- Parent conduct
- Possible field set up & take down (corner flags)
- Players and coach arrive early so that games can begin on time
- **always respect the decision of the referee
Turf 1 – Flags are in the green bin behind the players benches.
Turf 2 – Corner flags are available in the brown bin between Grass 1 and Turf 2
Grass 2 & 3 – Flags are in the green bin behind the players benches.
Cedar Park – Flags are in the small grey bin behind the away team baseball dugout.
Evergreen – Flags are in the green bin behind the away team baseball dugout.
Referees are assigned for all games (U8-U18)
For all U13/14 games, Parents are asked to act as linesperson – 1 parent from each team. The linesperson’s job is to raise the flag when the entire ball has crossed the touchline (sideline). They are not to determine the direction of play unless asked by the referee.
For U15 and up, paid Assistant Referees (AR) will be provided by the home club.
If the ref has not arrived 5 minutes before kick off, please call the Referee scheduler at 778-836-1641.
ONLY the referee can cancel a match due to weather or safety reasons.
You are expected to show up ready to play if the fields are “open” or listed as “user discretion”.
If you feel conditions are unsafe for play after arrival, please discuss this with the referee before kicking off and a decision can be made.
Coaches are NOT to decide on weather related cancellations the morning of a scheduled match unless the City of Port Coquitlam has closed your specific field on the City’s website.
