Are we allowed to cancel a game in advance?2018-10-13T16:54:09+00:00

Cancellations in advance MUST be discussed with your coordinator beforehand.  Doing this incorrectly can result in forfeitures and fines from the league.  Coaches should not be cancelling games on their own.  Once a decision has been made, please confirm with the club scheduler via clubscheduler@pocosoccer.com.

Who can cancel games in case of bad weather?2018-10-13T16:53:18+00:00

ONLY the referee can cancel a match due to weather, and then only for safety reasons. You are expected to show up ready to play.  If you feel conditions are unsafe for play, please discuss this with the referee before kicking off, and a decision can be made.  Coaches are NOT to decide on weather related cancellations the morning of a scheduled match.

Sometimes, either the City of Port Coquitlam or Poco Euro-Rite FC has closed the fields due to rain, snow or frost in which case all games are automatically cancelled. Please be sure to call the other coach and let them know of the cancellation.

What happens if a referee doesn’t show up?2018-10-13T16:52:46+00:00

If the ref has not arrived 5 minutes before kick off, please call the club scheduler at 604-518-8344.

Are there referees and linesmen for all games?2018-10-13T16:50:16+00:00

Referees are assigned for U8 and up. Parents are asked to act as linesmen – 1 parent from each team.  The linesman’s job is only to call the call all the way out of play.  They are not to determine the direction of play.

Where can I find Nets and/or Corner Flags?2018-10-13T16:49:29+00:00

U8 Nets and flags are available in the metal bin situated in the North East corner of the field.  (First team sets up, last team takes down)

U9-10 Corner flags are available in the smaller green bin between the benches on Turf 1.

What are the responsibilities of the coach on game day?2018-10-13T16:48:56+00:00

  • players and coach arrive early so that games can begin on time
  • nets are set-up (U8 only – first team sets up, last team takes down).
  • fields are properly lined with flags put up (if required by league rules).
  • With the home team providing linesmen (this is not a recognized volunteer position for the POCO Euro-Rite FC Soccer Volunteer Program and does not qualify for your $50 volunteer fee reimbursement)
